Why do you need to manually verify my rent payment or bill payment and how does it work?

Since we report to the credit bureaus, we must be able to verify what we’re reporting is correct. This means we need to verify things like your identity, address, service provider, landlord or property management company, lease information, and payment details, among other things.

If we are not able to confirm these details, we will not be able to report your payments to the credit bureaus. If we need to manually verify your payment, you should receive an email asking you to submit proof of payment. Learn what types of payment proof we accept.

Please follow the steps in that email as soon as possible so we can verify your payments and start reporting them to the credit bureaus.

We may need to manually verify your payment when:

  • You first sign up for rent reporting
  • Your landlord or property management company changes
  • You move to a new rental address
  • Your rent payment method changes
  • You pay by money order, cashier’s check, or via a money transfer app
  • We have other questions about your transaction details
  • Etc.

It typically takes our team up to 3 business days to review a payment once they have the info they need.
