By signing up for free rent reporting at Self, we’ll report your monthly payments to the 3 major credit bureaus – Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. This means you build credit each month using rent you already pay. Since payment history is the biggest factor impacting your credit score,* reporting your rent could make a difference.
To get started, sign up and connect the bank account you use to make rent payments via Plaid. Then pick the payment you want reported. Once we verify your payments and rental info, we’ll start reporting your next rent payment about 1 day after it comes out of your bank account. Each credit bureau has their own timeline for processing updates though, so it may take a few weeks to reflect on your credit reports.
