How do I update or change my rent or bill info when I move?

Since the credit bureaus require a new tradeline on your credit reports for each rental address or utility service provider, there are some steps you’ll need to take when moving to keep getting credit for these payments. 

 

First, remove and close your old address. To do this: 

  1. Log in to your Self App  and tap the Rent+Bills tab. 
  2. Tap the current address or bill obligation you wish to close. 
  3. Tap Mark as closed
  4. Follow the steps to finish the move-out process. 

Once closed, we won’t be able to report any more rent payments for you under the old address and leasing information. Instead, the old address tradeline will report to the credit bureaus as closed in good standing. 

 

If you are changing utility service providers, be sure to close the old utility obligations too. 

 

Next, add your new rental address and utility service providers. As long as your premium Rent+Bills subscription is active, you can add your new lease information and utility service provider to continue building credit with those payments.
